Problems - Systems of Units

Question 1:
What is room temperature (68 °F) in the MKS, CGS, and SI system?

Solution 1:
T = 68 °F

dif °F = dif °C
180 °F = 100 °C
1.8 °F = 1 °C

°F = 1.8 ° C + 32
°C = (°F - 32) / 1.8

in MKS and CGS:
T = (68 - 32) / 1.8 °C
T = 20 °C

in SI:
dif K = dif °C

273.15 K = 273.15 °C
K = °C + 273.15

T = 20 + 273.15 K
T = 293.15 K
Question 2:

How many centimeters are there in 1/2 yd?

Solution 2:
1/2 yd = 1/2 yd * (3 ft /1 yd) * (30.48 cm/1 ft)

           = 1/2 * 3 * 30.48 cm
           = 45.72 cm
