For approximate numbers (and exact numbers), there is often a need to round off the result with appropriate level of accuracy.
The procedure is to note the digit following the last to appear in the rounded-off form, add a 1 to the last digit if it is greater than or equal to 5, and leave it alone if it is less than 5.
For example, 3.186 @ (approximately equal to) 3.19 @ 3.2, depending on the level of precision desired.
